Summary: These days it is usual to hear about author's rights and the piracy that pillages them, but it does not seem that the presence of the subject on the media entails a sufficient knowledge of the entities managing those rights, ignorance that is stressed when placing such entities within the international context. This document intends to palliate this lack in a very precise dimension: knowing what non governmental international organizations of author’s rights societies are like and what they do. The text offers a very general introductory outlook which, without exhaustivity, highlights the role of the international associations of entities of collective management in the institutional architecture of author's rights.
