Going to exhibitions / [written by Ulla Arnell, Inger Hammer, Göran Nylöf]
Analytics: Show analyticsPublication details: Stockholm : Riksutställningar, 1976Description: 132 pSummary: The report Utställningar ("Exhibitions") published in 1974 by MUS 65 (the Swedish Royal Commission of museum and exhibition experts set up in 1965), contained a comprehensive account of the sociological surveys of museum and exhibition visits which had been carried out under the aegis of Swedish Travelling Exhibitions. This book is a condensed version of that report. Some sections concerning visitor structure and recruitment areas have been omitted, as have also one or two passages of a more theoretical character. In this English-language version the intention has been to show how a series of surveys on museum and exhibition visitors can be constructed and at the same time to present certain parts of the results. We hope that these may lead to new and exciting exhibitions which will benefit not only the exhibition-visiting public but also museum workers and those undertaking visitor researches.
