Summary: The 6th Conference of European Ministers responsible for Cultural Affairs follows on from the conferences held in Oslo (1976), Athens (1978), Luxembourg (1981), Berlin (1984) and Sintra (1987). The conference was held in the Castello Utveggio in Palermo, Italy, in response to an invitation issued by the Italian Government at the previous conference. The Sicilian Regional Authorities hosted the conference. A list of participants appears in Appendix I. The conference programme is set out in Appendix Il. The Ministers' exchanges of views were based on a discussion paper drafted, at the request of the Committee. of Senior Officials responsible for preparing the conference, by Mr. Hans Sand.
