The cultural sector has become a focus for direct and indirect employment creation on the island of Ireland. Arts, culture, heritage and museum organisations are seen to hold the potential for creating new jobs and for supporting job creation in tourism and allied industries. <br/><br/>Ireland's cultural resources and facilities hold a world-class reputation and Ireland is seen to possess a major competitive advantage in such areas as cultural and intellectual tourism. But what kinds of jobs are being created in the cultural sector? How do cultural managers view their careers? How well rewarded are they?
