NOTA DE RESUMEN |
This is Volume II of four of the Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Cultural Economics and Planning which was held M ay 26-28, 1982 in Maastricht, Holland.
This volume contains papers presented at the Second International Conference on Cultural Economics and Planning held in Maastricht, Holland on May 26-28, 1982. The papers herein represent approximately one fourth of those presented; this volume is Volume 2 of 4 of the Proceedings of that conference.
The subject matter is the performing arts, in particular a collection of papers which research economists and other researchers offered for comment at the conference covering their research into the performing arts. Organizing the volume has been somewhat difficult given the diverse nature of the papers, but generally the papers appear to fall into three broad categories: those which describe the basic economic conditions facing the performing arts, those which more broadly (and in some cases with less interest in the economic aspects) describe the environment in which the performing arts perform, while the third group represents papers aimed at actions which arts organizations can take to better reach their audiences and thereby improve their economic conditions. Such an organization is somewhat forced, but we leave that to the reader to decide. Given the fact that we all write the papers we want to write rather than the papers some editor wishes us to write, then economists should hardly be surprised at the difficulty facing proceedings editors. On the positive side of editing, it is clear that many of these papers make good reading and offer truly useful insights into the cultural economics of the performing arts. (Font: Introducció) |
