| Resumen |
The importance of regions in the European political, economic and cultural scene has led the Council for Cultural Co-operation of the Council of Europe to center upon a comprehensive and detailed analysis of cultural dynamics in regional development. The result is Project No. 10. (...)<br/>The Vilafranca Seminar. The seminar on the place of communication in regional development took up the study of one of the five main themes underlying the guiding the approach to Project No. 10 "Cultural dynamics in regional development". To that end, a number of questions were picked out:<br/>I. What is the distinction between ''information'' and ''communication" at regional level?<br/>II. The role of the ''local" and "regional" levels in the development of communication?<br/>III. How is a communication system organised at regional level?<br/>IV. Communication industries in the regional context?<br/>V. The distinctive roles of the various culture industries?<br/>VI. The place of advertising in regional media?<br/>VII. New technologies and their adaptation to regional communication systems?<br/>VIII. Possibilities for interregional exchanges?<br/>IX. Contribution of regional communication systems to a regional identity?<br/>X. Multiplicity of regional communication systems and their relevance to development?<br/>XI. Dynamics of informal communication systems within and between regions?<br/>XII. Different levels of regional media and their relations with national media?<br/>XIII. Co-operation between regional media and cultural organisations?<br/>XIV. Regional media and creation of a regional "image"?<br/>XV. The case of Catalonia and the micro-region of the "Penedes"?<br/>The fact that the Vilafranca seminar was held towards the end of the exploratory phase of Project No, 10 made it possible to make use of some of the findings reached at earlier seminars and hearings.<br/>Documents from other European regions contributed to the clarification of ideas about culture and communication in a regional context. This variety of comparative material, coupled with the studies provided by Catalonia, proved a valuable instrument for the project. |
