Detalles de publicación: Amsterdam : European Cultural Foundation, 2004Descripción: 46 fRecursos en línea: Resumen: The conference ‘Sharing Cultures: A contribution to cultural policies for Europe’, which was held in Rotterdam between 11 and 13 July 2004, took place in the context of the Dutch EU Presidency and the European Cultural Foundation’s 50th anniversary (1954-2004). It also took place at a moment of historic development for the EU, almost coinciding with the enlargement of 1 May 2004 and the first elections to the European Parliament in the Europe of 25. The meeting created a forum for reflection and the putting forward of practical action proposals for cultural policies for Europe within a fundamentally altered European political landscape. Emphasis was placed on the emergence of new borders and the need to redefine relationships between EU countries and those to the east and the south (the ‘new neighbours’), while also taking a more global perspective. The conference’s main objective was to propose and promote a coherent European strategy for cultural policy. It discussed possible new means of realising cultural policies at EU, national and third-sector levels, voicing the positions of the cultural sector and setting a practical agenda for action.
