Economic impact of cultural macrofestivals using input-output multipliers [Recurs electrònic] / Luis César Herrero Prieto, José Ángel Sanz Lara and María Devesa Fernández
Descripción: 21 pRecursos en línea: Resumen: The artistic and cultural activities have not only a key cultural and social value, but also an undeniable economic impact. Indeed, it is a fact that the cultural sector constitutes a productive branch and the cultural factor is frequently used as a key element for the regional and/or economic development. This research aims at estimating the economic impact of Salamanca 2002 as the European Capital of Culture, using the methodology provided by the impact studies in two stages: first, through the estimate of the private spending generated by the cultural tourism of the event; and second, through the calculation of the overall economic impact, including private cultural consumption, public spending directly related to the cultural program, investment in new equipment and facilities, along with the estimate of the multiplying effects on the overall regional and national economies, using input-output methodology.
