Estudis i documentsAnalíticas: Mostrar analíticasDetalles de publicación: Paris : Unesco, 1971Descripción: 81 pResumen: The two chapters of which this survey consists, together with the Statistical Appendix that follows them, describe the principal aspects of the cultural policy applied in Italy between 1948 and 1969. The first chapter bears on the aims of that policy, from the year following the promulgation of the new Constitution in which general principles are laid down, more particularly in regard to action by the public authorities in the cultural sphere. There were, of course, some structures or, to borrow the term used in the second chapter, some 'instruments', in existence prior to the promulgation of the Constitution. Of this there can be no doubt. But the years between 1948 and 1969 represent a well-defined period, characterized both by the new purposes which, in addition to the traditional aims, were assigned to governmental action, and by the new principles governing that action. The second chapter is concerned with the instruments of Italian cultural policy, that is, the traditional structures and the structures set up after the war in various sectors (education, scientific research, academic centres and cultural institutes, libraries, arts, cinema, theatre, and radio and television). The policy of cultural exchanges with foreign countries is also examined. Lastly, the Statistical Appendix illustrates by means of figures some of the information contained in the survey.
