Resumen: Although professionals in tourism and culture have totally different backgrounds and starting points, they welcome co-operation. Projects have been set up, in which representatives of the two parties co-operate. Some have been successful, but many run into difficulties. The contributors to this book reflect on the problems of co-operation, the problems of learning each other's language, with emphasis on planning for cultural tourists, accessibility and new technologies. Furthermore, experiences of project leaders from Germany, Norway, Spain and the Netherlands are discussed. The combination of theory and case studies makes this book a record of the state-of-the-art at the end of the 1990s. Planning Cultural Tourism in Europe can be a source of inspiration for the various partners in cultural tourism, scientists and policy makers when they measure their ideas and formulate new plans.
