Resumen: The chapters in this volume are an attempt to provide views from different perspectives of the system based on the different dimensions. The first part of this book addresses the "integrated assessment" dimension, which considers the "sum of the parts" to be as important as the parts by themselves. The papers show how various models ~d modeling frameworks that connect multiple sectors of the global system were used to develop future scenarios for the sustainability of the global system. The second part of the book examines in more detailed the issues concerning the sustainability of key sectors of the system. This provides an important complement to the first part because the models and frameworks in the first part are limited in the amount of detail that they could provide to any one sector. The third part examines several recent frameworks for eco-restructuring· processes in the economy through specific analytical frameworks that provide for the analysis of specific policies or "sustainable" scenarios (this as opposed to the global change scenarios, which focus more on forecasting the state or future state of the system.
