Resumen: The framework for the Council of Europe’s work in education, culture, heritage, sport and youth is provided by the European Cultural Convention of 1954. This is implemented by the Council for Cultural Co-operation (CDCC ) with the help of its four specialized committees. The Culture Committee oversees Council’s cultural co-operation programmes. These aim in to: • Promote the development of democratic cultural policies ; • Increase awareness of Europe's cultural diversity ; • Meet the challenges facing society, such as globalisation and new technologies and the opportunities they offer for culture and cultural policy. The activities mentioned in this brochure are developed and coordinated by the Department of Cultural Policies and Actions. (Font: Presentació)
