| Resumen | Este artículo reexpone y analiza el ensayo que el académico francés Marc Fumaroli dedicó a principios de los años noventa a la institucionalización política de los contenidos culturales llevada a cabo en el siglo xx. Pese al tiempo transcurrido, creemos que el libro, titulado El Estado cultural (ensayo sobre una religión moderna), conserva su frescura intacta. El trabajo se centra en la puesta en práctica de las llamadas políticas culturales, oficialmente inauguradas con la creación del Ministerio de Asuntos Culturales en 1959 dirigido por André Malraux. Sin embargo Fumaroli no se restringe a estudiar la naturaleza y evolución de este Ministerio, sino que rastrea sus precedentes históricos e identifica los textos y momentos políticos en que fraguó la ideología que va a dotarle de justificación. Esta amplitud de miras permite que su diagnóstico rebase el caso francés y pueda aplicarse a todo país occidental, o cuando menos europeo. Se trata pues de un ensayo que, pese a abordar cuestiones artísticas, está planteado desde un planteamiento histórico y teórico político, que no oculta los presupuestos liberales de los que parte. No es de extrañar que una de las primeras conclusiones a las que se llega acuse el carácter dirigista de las políticas culturales. Ahora bien, lejos de ser criticable, la "impureza teorética" que revela el punto de vista de Fumaroli no solo tiene el mérito de explicitarse desde el principio, sino que acaso se manifiesta como la más adecuada para observar el peculiar acoplamiento entre los planos administrativo y artístico que viene produciéndose en el seno de los Estados europeos desde principios del siglo XX. | Resumen | This article analyze and reexpose and the essay that french academicist Marc Fumaroli dedicated, at the beginning of the nineties, about the institutionalization policy of cultural contents carried out in the twentieth century. Despite the time that has elapsed, we believe that the book, entitled The State cultural (essay on a modern religion), it retains its freshness intact. The work focuses on the implementation of the so-called cultural policies, formally inaugurated with the creation of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in 1959 directed by André Malraux. Fumaroli however is not restricted to explore the nature and evolution of this Ministry, but traces its historical precedents and identifies the texts and political moments in concocted the ideology that justificate it. This breadth allows that its diagnosis exceeds the french case and can be applied to any western country, or at least European. It is a test that, despite addressing artistic matters, is raised from a historical and theoretical political approach, which did not hide the liberal budgets that part. It is not surprising that one of the first conclusions reached acknowledgment the dirigist nature of cultural policies. However, far from being criticized, the "impurity symbiosis" that reveals the point of view of Fumaroli not only has the merit of being explicit from the beginning, but that it might perhaps manifests by itself as the most suitable to observe the peculiar coupling between the administrative and artistic levels taking place in the heart of the European States since the beginning of the wentieth century.
