| Resumen | Explorar i aprofundir en la comprensió dels valors del patrimoni, fer front a un context canviant on els recursos disminueixen, fomentar nous models d’interpretació més participatius, promoure l’accés i la participació en la gestió del patrimoni, fomentar una comprensió integrada del patrimoni (material i immaterial), detectar les noves (i velles) amenaces per a la preservació del patrimoni, abordar el desenvolupament professional i institucional necessari. Aquests són els principals reptes per al patrimoni cultural europeu segons aquest document de consulta titulat «Challenges and priorities for cultural heritage in Europe: results of an expert consultation» encarregat per la Direcció General d’Educació i Cultura de la Comissió Europea a la Xarxa Europea d’Experts en Cultura (EENC). Els experts en patrimoni cultural que van participar en aquest exercici de consulta van assenyalar també les mesures prioritàries que calia prendre en aquest àmbit, són les següents: promoure l’intercanvi d’informació i bones pràctiques entre els estats membres de la Unió Europea, destacar el paper del patrimoni en el desenvolupament sostenible, establir noves narratives i nous models d’interpretació, proporcionar suport a les xarxes i plataformes europees de patrimoni, promoure la formació i el desenvolupament institucional, facilitar l’accés al patrimoni a través de la digitalització, dirigir esforços a àrees menys explorades del patrimoni, prevenir el tràfic il·lícit de béns patrimonials i estimular les col·laboracions per millorar el finançament.
