The hearing was held in Angra do Heroísmo, on the island of Terceira, and in Ponta Delgada, on the island of Saô Miguel, from 1 to 5 July 1986. It was the fourth hearing for the study group within the Council of Europe's Project No. 10, "Cultural dynamics in regional development".<br/>The aim of the hearing was to give the project group the opportunity to study and understand a region's cultural policy and actions, and to exchange experiences and views through discussions with elected and non-elected officials of the regional cultural authorities.
